These are exciting times for the John Deere Construction & Forestry Division. Recently, we acquired the 

Wirtgen Group,

 the leading worldwide manufacturer of road construction equipment. Headquartered in Windhagen, Germany, the family-owned company is a natural fit with our construction equipment business. Wirtgen Group’s highly complementary product portfolio enhances John Deere’s existing construction equipment offering with no overlap and positions us as a global industry leader in road construction.
 
Like John Deere, Wirtgen Group has a legacy of technology and innovation, with market-leading products and a strong focus on the customer. The acquisition adds five premium market-leading brands that span the road construction sector, including milling, processing, mixing, paving, compaction, and rehabilitation. Wirtgen Group has approximately 8,000 employees and sells products in more than 100 countries through a large network of company-owned and independent dealers.


I’m very excited to continue to support John Deere’s long-term strategy of growing our construction business in my new role as lead executive for the Wirtgen Group. And I’m equally excited to welcome David Thorne to his new role as Senior Vice President, Sales & Marketing. We can expect big things from him and from the John Deere Construction & Forestry Division in the future!
